The nature

Flora


The predominant plant formation is the forest consisting of the forest types larch, evergreen, coigue of
Magallanes and Lenga. The most representative species
it is larch, present in almost 20,000 hectares of the park,
developing around 400 and associated with the coigüe of
Chiloé, Tineo, Mañío and Canelo. The evergreen forest is
develops from sea level to 900 meters above sea level,
varying their composition depending on the exposure of the laces
mountainous. Species such as tuft, coigue and ulm are found. There are also abundant climbing vines, ferns, thickets of quila and grass on the forest floor. The Magallanes coigüe forest is located about 800 meters above sea level, covering the top of the mountains in the west of the park. You can also find the lenga, which grows in a squat shape in the highest areas up to the vegetation limit.

Fauna

The presence of mammals such as the pudú, puma, guiña, gray fox, chingue and mountain monkey stands out. Among the birds, the condor, the black woodpecker, the hued-hued, the kingfisher, the peuco, the peuco, the peacock duck, the caiquén, the whale and the torcacha stand out. Common fish include the
percatrucha and introduced species such as brown trout and rainbow trout.
