Trees: Dense forests of Lenga (Nothofagus pumilio), Ñire (Nothofagus antarctica), and the Magallanes Coigüe.
High-altitude vegetation: Above the forest limit, there is tundra and formations of mosses and lichens resistant to snow.
Peat bogs (Turbales): A large part of the ground is covered by extensive and deep peat bogs, fundamental for carbon sequestration and the water cycle on the island.
Featured species: It is home to the Huillín (marine otter) and the Southern Elephant Seal in the fjord areas.
Terrestrial: One can observe guanacos, Fuegian red foxes, and, with a lot of luck, the elusive huemul.
Birds: The black woodpecker, the grey-headed goose, and the Andean condor. The coasts are rich in petrels and cormorants.
