The vegetation is composed of species adapted to the cold and humid climate. Canelo, ñirre, Magallanes coigüe and wood predominate.
Mosses, lichens and peat bogs are also common, making up a fragile and unique ecosystem.
The park represents one of the most pristine areas of the sub-antarctic forest.
The park is home to rich marine and sub-antarctic biodiversity. Birds such as the wandering albatross, the giant petrel, the Magellanic penguin, the imperial cormorant and the Dominican gull stand out.
It is also possible to observe sea lions, southern dolphins, elephant seals and occasionally leopard seals.
It is a key area for the conservation of migratory and endemic species in the extreme south of Chile.
