Monte León preserves a mosaic of Patagonian coastal steppe with black forest, caulk, neneo and coirón.
In low-lying areas close to the coast, senecios, Patagonian verbena and salicornia communities thrive in brackish areas.
In southern spring and summer (November to January), Patagonian daisies and small flowers adapted to arid and saline soils bloom.
The park is home to a diverse fauna with guanacos, red foxes, choiques and Patagonian foxes in the steppe. On the coast, colonies of Magellanic penguins, imperial cormorants, one-haired sea lions, petrels, cook gulls and skúas stand out.
At certain times, overhead toninas and, on the high seas, southern right whales are sighted in transit.
Best season for observation: November to March.
