The reserve is mainly covered by lenga forests, accompanied by coigües in wetlands and ñirres in open terrain.
At higher altitude, low shrubs and Andean steppes appear, while in the areas near rivers and lagoons, wetlands are formed with reeds, mosses and lichens, creating green and diverse landscapes typical of humid Patagonia.
This environment is home to species such as puma, pudú and culpeo and gray foxes, with the occasional presence of huemules. The watercourses are home to the huillín and the chungungo, and in the sky you can see condors, harriers and black carpenters, together with small hummingbirds and kingfishers. The waters are home to introduced trout and native percatrucha.
