Melimoyu is located at the transition point between the southern limit of the Temperate Rainforest and the northern end of the Patagonian Subantarctic Forest. Its lush forests are home to a unique mix of species, from the lush Valdivian jungle to Cypress formations from Guaitecas and Tepú. Trees such as Coigüe, Cypress and Canelo stand out as characteristic representatives of their vegetation.
The natural environment of Melimoyu shelters a remarkable diversity of wildlife. Its inhabitants include Darwin's iconic Frog, the Puma, the Fox and little Pudú. Its avifauna is equally rich. Along the coast, it is common to observe Chilean and southern dolphins, penguins, seals, sea lions, and even majestic humpback and blue whales.
