The Puyehue National Park is dominated by temperate Valdivian forests with emblematic species such as larch, coigüe, lenga, raulí and manío.
The vegetation is dense and varied, with abundant ferns, lichens and mosses that create a moist and cool ecosystem. In addition, the park has high meadows and volcanic areas with flora adapted to extreme conditions.
The fauna includes mammals such as the puma, the chilote fox, the mountain monkey, the pudú and the huemul, an emblematic and endangered species.
Among the birds, the Andean condor, the black woodpecker, the chucao, and numerous water birds in lakes and rivers stand out. Amphibians and reptiles are also present, reflecting the park's great biodiversity.
