More than 270 plant species make up the park's main formations: Patagonian steppe with wind-resistant grasses, pre-Andean scrub with caulk and notro, deciduous magellanic forest with lengas, ñirres and coigües, and areas of Andean desert with scarce vegetation.
In addition, in humid areas there are peat bogs, reeds and riparian forests. Flowering occurs mainly in spring and summer.
The park has a great diversity of animals.
Among the mammals, the puma, the guanaco, the culpean fox, the squeal fox, the wild cat and the huemul (endangered) stand out.
The birds are very varied: Andean condor, moray eagle, black-necked swan, Chilean flamingo, rye and several aquatic birds and raptors.
Amphibians, reptiles and native fish are also present in bodies of water in the park.
